You can now use Snapchat on your PC – here’s how to access it

Snapchat fans haven’t been able to officially use the hugely successful app on their PC – until now.

The social networking company, which has 332 million users, announced that Snapchat for the web allows you to log in and follow conversations online, make and receive video and audio calls, as well as send text Snaps all through a web browser.

Ryan Thomas, head of simultaneous experiences at Snap Inc, says moving to a computer screen for Snapchat fans seemed like an obvious step for the platform.

“With more than 100 million Snapchat users making calls to their Snapchat friends every month, we knew this was a critical component to getting it right,” he told Mumbrella.

While users in the US, UK and Canada have to pay a monthly fee to access Snapchat on their laptops, it’s a different story for people in Australia and New Zealand.

All Australians can use the web-based functionality for free – at no additional cost.

How to use Snapchat for the web on your PC

To use Snapchat for web on your computer, follow these simple steps:

  1. Go to in either Chrome or Edge, then sign in with your Snapchat account. Currently, you cannot access Snapchat for web from any other web browser, including Safari and Firefox.
  2. Once logged into your account, you will be able to make video and voice calls and send messages from your laptop.
  3. Common features such as chat interactions and chat reply can also be used. Insiders say Lenses will be rolling out in the coming months.
