It is said that Xbox Series S games are set to receive a massive graphics boost thanks to a new Microsoft update.
A video distributed to game developers by Microsoft has teased some very promising Xbox Series S updates. The video accompanies a new Software Development Kit released by Microsoft that “gives developers more control over memory, which can improve graphics performance in memory-constrained conditions”.
The phrase “memory constrained conditions” is very relevant for Xbox Series S owners. The main drawback of the cheapest and most accessible next-generation console is that it is completely digital. This limits the amount of games one can install on the console and results in compromises such as a maximum resolution of 1080p for most games.
This update could bring some serious changes in these areas, so let’s take a look at what it actually offers. For more information, check out 7 Reasons to Choose Xbox Series S over Xbox Series X.
Xbox Series S update August 2022
How exactly does Microsoft’s latest software update improve graphics for users? The video in question confirms that “hundreds of additional megabytes of memory are now available to Xbox Series S developers.” This should lead to greater graphical capabilities of your favorite games.
The Xbox Series S can run games at 1440p at 120fps, but that’s proven to be an illusion in many cases. Most of the time, you’ll start a game at 1080p and not likely to hit 120fps. Microsoft believes this update can change that and “improve graphics performance”.
The S Series features only 10 GB of RAM compared to the 16 GB of the more premium Xbox Series X. To make matters worse, the Xbox reserves 2GB of RAM for operating system functions. This has left developers unhappy when it comes to producing games for the S series.
This update is designed to make developers’ lives easier and encourage them to continue improving their games for the S Series.. Customers should be performing better than ever on a next-generation console on their budget. We’ll have to wait to see the full effects of this update, but for now it looks like everyone is a winner.

About Xbox Series S
With gaming performance set to improve more than ever, now is the time to secure the Xbox Series S. So what budget does the next generation offer?
Arguably the most attractive aspect of the console is its price. The recommended retail price of $499 is very attractive when stacked against the recommended retail price of $799 for the X Series and $749.95 for the PlayStation 5.
This difference is more pronounced because the S Series is already readily available for RRP, while you’ll consider paying a seller’s premium when buying a Series X and especially a PS5.
Aside from the resolution and frame rate, the S Series holds up really well against the X Series, capable of playing every game available on its bigger brother. If you are not a complete performance junkie, the Series S is a really tempting proposition.
If you can’t wait to take advantage of the latest Xbox Series S update, get the console on eBay now for $495.
