These Sonic the Hedgehog Themed Keyboards Could Ironically Slow Your Typing Speed

These Sonic The Hedgehog themed keyboards can ridiculously slow your typing speed

The sonic the hedgehog Video games are more or less all about one thing: breaking through a level as quickly as possible. As beautiful as this Higround-themed Sonic keyboard may be, it almost seems to be at odds with the gaming spirit, at least if you don’t have all of your key placements perfectly preserved.

The keyboard is part of a new “capsule set” (yes, we’re just as upset about typing those words as it is about reading them) from Higround, which has partnered with Sega to help honor the company’s most iconic personalities and one of its most beloved consoles.

The set includes shirts, pants, bags, keycap sets, and even mouse pads, but the highlight is certainly the three large themed keyboards. The brightest set features elaborately decorated switches (with TTC Speed Silver switches underneath) that recreate the iconic Green Hill area from the first. sonic the hedgehogwhile the more accurate variant reflects the basic art of Sonic Adventure 2.

The final keyboard of the group pays homage to the Dreamcast, with the console logo on the space bar and color-matched arrow keys and labels from the controller’s action buttons. Each keyboard appears to be completely devoid of stickers to prioritize artwork over keycaps, but in fact, the alphanumeric stickers have been moved along with each key for aesthetic reasons, prioritizing form over function. At least there is some form of safety net.

Higround’s Sega collection will be officially available beginning at noon on August 5, PST, through the company’s website. While pricing hasn’t been revealed for any of the items yet, prices for other keyboard versions from the company ranged from $135 ($194) to $145 ($208).
